- Beardsley illustrated "Le Morte d'Arthur," a 15th century story based on the Arthurian legend by Thomas Malory, when it was republished in England from 1893 to 1894. The magician Merlin, an important character in the story of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, is depicted here. After Beardsley died in 1898, a collection of his works was published in 1905 by British publisher JM Dent. This work is the Dent edition.
