Maurice Denis "La Depeche"
It was created by Nabi painter Maurice Denis as an advertisement for the French regional newspaper La Dépêche.
The Nabis were a group of artists active in Paris in the 19th century, including Pierre Bonnard, Felix Vallotton, Paul Serijouet, and Édouard Viard. Among their number, Denis was known for his skillful use of curves, as in this piece, and for his work which is reminiscent of Art Nouveau.
