- The term "Art Deco" is derived from the French word "art décoratif," which originally referred to decorative art. In 1885, Paul Rouet introduced decorative art from the past to the present with illustrations in his "Dictionary of Decorative Arts." From 1900, Alphonse Mucha drew the covers for each issue and sold them in separate volumes. This is the work.
