Aubrey Beardsley, "King Arthur and the Snarling Beast" from Le Morte d'Arthur, 1905
- Beardsley illustrated "Le Morte d'Arthur," a 15th century story based on the Arthurian legend by Thomas Malory, when it was republished in the UK from 1893 to 1894. This work depicts the scene in Book 1, Chapter 19, where King Arthur meets the Questing Beast while resting by a spring. After Beardsley died in 1898, a collection of his work was published in 1905 by the British publisher JM Dent. This work is the Dent edition.
