Its appearance, which seems to suggest the mystery of the moon and Salome's own fate, is filled with Beardsley's distinctive tranquil beauty and symbolism.
The outline is drawn with thin, supple lines, the decoration is delicate, and the expression is slightly downcast.
The opening, filled with tranquility and tension, is beautifully crystallized in just one image.
This is an original antique print produced at that time.
After Beardsley's early death in 1898, a collection of his works was produced by John Lane, who published a number of works including his masterpiece, Salome.
This work is one of the prints included in the John Lane edition.
