This is an antique photographic postcard from around 1920 that shows the exterior of the Cabaret du Ciel, a fantastical themed cabaret that actually existed on the Boulevard de Clichy in Montmartre.
Cabaret Ciel, which opened at 53, Boulevard de Clichy in Paris in 1896, attracted attention for its "heaven"-themed decorations and presentation, and along with the Cabaret Enfer (Hell) that opened next door, it became a famous attraction in Montmartre.
This work captures in detail the façade of an angel statue bearing the words "LE CIEL" and the fantastical decorations featuring designs of saints and stars, encapsulating the aesthetics of decadence and leisurely living in Paris at the end of the 19th century.
This work is framed in a soft pink mount and a black wooden frame. It is a piece that harmonizes the beauty of fantasy architecture with the charm of antiques. The framed size is approximately 20 x 27.5 cm.
