Cassandre Dubonnet, postcard (circa 1930)
Adolphe Mouron-Cassandre's iconic advertising piece, "Dubo, Dubon, Dubonnet," combines Art Deco typography and humor. This postcard from the time is based on this masterpiece.
A man stares at his glass, another drinks wine, and another holds a bottle in his hand, refilling it with satisfaction. The rhythmic design, which unfolds along this triptych—"Beautiful to look at" (DUBO), "Delicious to drink" (DUBON), "Dubonnet"—demonstrates Cassandre's exceptional compositional skills and advertising sense.
The reverse side is unused and remains in the same condition as it was at the time, making it a highly collectible piece as well as valuable as art.
