Cassandre "The Blue Bird (L'Oiseau Bleu)" Flyer with Timetable 1929
This flyer with a timetable is based on the poster for the train "L'Oiseau Bleu" (The Blue Bird) by Adolphe Mouron-Cassandre in 1929.
The streamlined blue bird cutting through the steam and soaring through the air symbolizes the dreamlike speed and comfort of a journey. The red and white flag, the dynamic perspective, and the typography of the title logo all come together to create a photo that encapsulates the aesthetics of Art Deco.
The reverse side features a timetable from that time in French, detailing the journey times between Antwerp, Brussels and Paris, as well as the appeal of the Pullman carriages. This is a historical masterpiece of railway advertising, combining practicality and artistry.
