Alphonse Mucha, "Ilse, Princess of Tripoli" illustrations [Part 3, Chapter 2] (both sides No. 109 & 110)

Sale price¥77,000

"The light that resides in your heart will be your guide."

Is the image he has in his mind a dream or reality?
The knight Jauful, guided by love and fantasy, is now convinced.
His journey was a pilgrimage in search of the nameless "her."
When you open the pages, Mucha's mysterious visions quietly illuminate the truth.

Explanation

At the end of Chapter 2 of Part 3, the protagonist Jauful finally gives shape and a name to the image of "her" that has lurked deep in his heart.
The vision of her, enveloped in golden light, with her arms outstretched towards the sacred mountains of Judah and a shining cross on her breast, points out the way for him like a divine revelation.

It is no longer a fantasy, but a real woman...
As we visualize her, the palace and gardens in which she lived come to mind, and the fragrances, lights and music are described in a way that appeals to the senses.
In this climax, Mucha attempts to embody the "sacred feminine" image in both visual and emotional terms, making full use of the lines and symbols of Art Nouveau to achieve a fusion of mystery and longing.

This chapter also marks a turning point in the entire work, announcing that love becomes the guide of the soul.
The moment when a heart that continues to believe in the "invisible" finally changes to the "visible" - it quietly overlaps with the reader's own prayers and dreams.
