Love blossoms in the silence of the forest - this is the first chapter of Part 1 of the story, depicting the encounter between a young knight and a shepherd's girl.
This is a scene from the fantasy drama "Ilse of Tripoli" illustrated by Alphonse Mucha. The front side depicts the meeting between the young man Jaufre and the shepherd's daughter Claret, while the back side depicts a mysterious scene in which Claret gives birth. The gorgeous decoration and soft colors are filled with the beauty unique to Art Nouveau.
This work is included in the lavishly illustrated book "Ilse of Tripoli," published in German in 1901.
