"A Morning Filled with Light, a Blooming Garden and Pilgrims"
As the soft morning sun shines on the oasis, the pilgrims quietly make their way to Princess Ilse's garden. The flower-filled avenues, the sound of silver bells ringing in the palace - all of this seems to gently seep into the hearts of the weary travelers.
Work Description
This scene depicts the beginning of Chapter 3 of Part 2, when the pilgrims are welcomed to Princess Ilse's palace.
The pilgrims walk through the oasis garden bathed in the morning light, forgetting the fatigue of their journey. Not a single person speaks, but they all harbor a quiet respect and admiration for Princess Ilse in their hearts.
The sound of the bells rang out, and the pilgrims were led to the palace, where they were greeted by Ilse with the same kindness as the day before.
The illustration on page 82 shows Ilse speaking to the pilgrims, with the pilgrim's journey and symbolic floral patterns in the background.
This scene is an important one that strongly emphasizes Princess Ilse's role as a symbol of compassion.
This work is included in the lavishly illustrated book "Ilse of Tripoli," published in German in 1901.
