This is an illustration (double-sided print) from The Red-Headed League by Arthur Conan Doyle, which appeared in the August 1891 issue of The Strand Magazine. The illustrations are by Sidney Paget, known as the illustrator of Sherlock Holmes.
The scene depicts Jabez Wilson going to the Red Heads' Guild office and standing there in shock to see a sign on the door that reads "The Red Heads' Guild disbanded October 9th 1890."
