Albert Robidad's 1883 illustration for his futuristic novel Le Vingtième Siècle (The Twentieth Century) is a fantastical vision combining technology with the natural remedies that were fashionable at the time.
The multi-story structure suspended from a giant hot air balloon houses an aerial hotel with a balcony bearing the name "Pension Bellevue," where passengers can enjoy "Cures d'Air" (air therapy) while taking in the beautiful mountain scenery.
This idea of combining the sky with health is an astonishing prediction of the future that is also relevant to modern wellness tourism. This is a masterpiece that is typical of Robida, combining humor and elegance.
