This work is an antique photographic postcard from around 1910 showing Rue Saint-Rustique, a corner of Montmartre.
Although the photographer is unknown, such landscape photographs were also used as reference material for the paintings of the time, and Maurice Utrillo also used photographic postcards as reference for many of his works.
At the end of the alley you can see the shining white Sacré-Coeur Basilica, and to the right is the famous restaurant Le Consulat, which is still in business today.
There is a clown-like portrait on the wall to the left, a piece that subtly captures the popular art culture of Montmartre.
This work is delivered framed in a black wooden frame on an orange backing.
The warm mount brings out the stone building's beauty, making the simple, poetic streetscape stand out even more. Framed size is approximately 20 x 27.5 cm.
