Rue Saint-Rustic was one of Maurice Utrillo's favourite streets, and he used postcards like this one as inspiration for his landscapes of whiteness and tranquility.
The work shows the dome of the Sacré-Coeur Basilica towering in the distance and the group of old buildings on either side, evoking a painterly composition. The sepia-toned photograph has a soft texture that evokes the passage of time.
This work is framed in a deep reddish-brown backing and black wooden frame.
