"Tuileries Garden" circa 1920 Antique photo postcard of Paris' oldest park | Framed
Around the fountain, the white of a yacht floats through time.
This work is an antique photographic postcard from around 1920 that shows Jardin des Tuileries, which spreads out in the heart of Paris' 1st arrondissement.
Although the photographer is unknown, the photograph remains a valuable document that realistically captures everyday life in Paris at the time, and continues to show the evolution of the city's landscape to this day.
Located between the Louvre and the Place de la Concorde, the Tuileries Garden is the oldest park in France, having opened in the 17th century. This work also depicts the "yachting around the fountain" that can still be seen today.
The tree-lined avenue leading to the back of the screen, the sparkling water's surface, and the serene postures of the people create a composition that is filled with quiet poetry.
This piece is framed in a black wooden frame with a dark green backing.
The elegant and subdued finish brings out the open feeling of the park and the classical charm of the old photograph. The framed size is approximately 20 x 27.5 cm.
(Some of the writing from that time remains on the back.)
